“I’m passionate about human connection and am here to help you better understand yourself and navigate life’s challenges. Drawing on psychodynamic therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and imaginal exposure I will tailor our sessions to your needs. I provide a compassionate space for both new and experienced therapy clients.”
About Me
Hi, I’m Julia. Together, we can work to deepen your understanding of yourself, improve how you navigate day-to-day life, and help you manage moments of crisis. I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space for people of all genders and cultures, whether it’s your first time in therapy or you’ve been in therapy for years.
My Approach
I’m an open, curious, and empathetic therapist with a warm sense of humor. I don’t just ask, “How do you feel?” on repeat. Instead, I work with you to identify and challenge patterns of thinking that may be holding you back. I focus on building your confidence and helping you develop concrete strategies for coping with future challenges independently.
We’ll explore how your relationships—with yourself, others, and the environment around you—may have shaped the beliefs you hold today. This could include your relationships with parents, friends, partners, co-workers, or societal expectations like body image and religion. Together, we’ll uncover the narratives you’ve absorbed over time that may no longer be serving you. In our sessions, no topic is “off-limits.”
I specialize in helping you open up about emotions or experiences you may have repressed, especially in a world that often pressures us to be “perfect.”
My Specialties
- Anxiety
- Anger management
- Grief
- Relationship challenges (including dating, friendships, and family dynamics)
- Self-esteem
- Sex related queries and exploring kinks
- Work Stress
I also work with professionals in high-pressure fields like finance, law, marketing, and the creative industries, as well as students at all levels. This includes working against imposter syndrome, the pressure to avoid vulnerability, and managing high pressure and stress on a day-to-day basis.
My primary therapeutic approach is relational and psychodynamic. This means we’ll explore how your upbringing and environment influence how you respond to challenges today. I may also draw from other therapeutic tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic therapy, mindfulness, and imaginal exposure to address past trauma and help you heal.
Additionally, I work with couples on issues related to long-term relationships, communication, sex, and infidelity.
If any of the following resonates with you, we might be a good fit:
• Did you grow up in a family where feelings were never discussed or it never felt safe to discuss them?
• Does the idea of being vulnerable and communicating openly with friends, family, or romantic partners feel threatening or unsafe?
• Do you neglect your needs in order to be accepted by others?
• Do you feel pressure to please your parents or help them feel good about themselves?
• Are you finding it difficult to navigate dating and keep a positive outlook in the face of rejection and mismatches?
• Do you have difficulty identifying your core needs in a relationship?
• Do you feel defined solely by your job and constantly fearful of any conflict at work?
• Do you sense that you’re pushing issues “under the rug” in your relationship in order to stay in it?
More About Me
I’m a native New Yorker with a unique perspective, having transitioned from a corporate career into the psychotherapy field. Half French and having lived in London for four years, I bring a global perspective to my work. My corporate background helps me understand the pressures and challenges professionals face.
I am flexible in how I approach therapy—whether in person at our office on 42nd Street and Madison Avenue or through virtual sessions. I encourage open communication and feedback throughout our work together, ensuring that therapy is tailored to best fit your needs.
I live with my water dog, Helios, who sometimes pops into virtual sessions to say hello, often carrying his favorite toy (a stuffed squirrel).
